INTEROPHTA: an extensive network of ophthalmologists serving patients in the Bouches du Rhône, region of southern France in Marseille and La Ciotat.
INTEROPHTA is a grouping of eye clinics with several specializations, including anterior segment surgery
A number of ophthalmologists work with INTEROPHTA, spread across both public and private healthcare providers in the Bouches du Rhône département (Clinique La Phocéanne, Hôpital Timone Adultes,…). Its organizational structure and geographical coverage enables it to satisfy growing demand for ophthalmic services in the local area.
Presentation of the centres
Patients can book appointments with the INTEROPHTA group at two different sites:
The centre d’ophtalmologie de Saint-Barnabé in Marseille
The Centre d’Ophtalmologie Ciotaden in La Ciotat. This is where patients referred by Hospitalsconsultants will be seen before any operation, with a view to ensuring that there are no last-minute issues which might make it safer not to go ahead with the procedure, as per the principle of precaution.
Surgical and medical procedures performed by the clinic
Eye tests & depth perception test
Lasers (Argon laser treatment, YAG laser treatment, SLT)
. Visual field
. Eye ultrasound & UBM
. Angiography & OCT angiography
. Corneal topography
. Specular microscopy
Surgical procedures: cataract surgery
On the day of the operation, patients will be brought to the Clinique La Phocéanne (a private healthcare establishment selected by our team) for their procedure. They will be seen by our staff the following day at the INTEROPHTHA clinic.
This clinic boasts extremely sophisticated facilities and 2500 cataract operations are performed there each year.
The Clinique La Phocéanne scored very highly (no improvements required) in its May 2012 inspection by the Haute Autorité de Santé (equivalent to the Care Quality Commission in the UK).
A MEDICAL TEAM SPECIALIZED IN EYE SURGERY
Our team of eye surgeons is here to help, ably assisted by an anaethetist who is present during all procedures and by a group of ophthalmologists who are skilled in detecting intercurrent diseases (glaucoma, retinopathy, maculopathy …) at the pre-operative stage.
